Genmab has a robust pipeline of innovative human antibody therapeutics, and a number of strategic partnerships are already in place with international blue-chip companies. The company is continuing its positive growth and development, striving towards its goal of improving the lives of oncology patients with significant unmet medical needs.

As Patent Attorney at Genmab you will be part of a team currently consisting of three Patent Attorneys, a Patent Administrator (a further Patent Administrator is also being recruited) and report to the Director IPR. Due to new development projects and the current stage of existing projects, the team is experiencing an increased need for further Patent Attorney resources.

Your main tasks are to:

  • Draft patent applications
  • Prosecute patent families in various countries
  • Review scientific articles/publications prior to publication
  • Monitor competitor activity
  • Perform freedom-to-operate analysis
  • Initiate and control measures to invalidate third party patent rights
  • Educate internally on various IP topics
  • Perform searches by using patent and/or literature databases to identify relevant information to support legal positions
  • Participate as a member of internal groups, including Global Project Teams (GPT)

You hold a master’s degree in Life Science (Pharmacist, Human Biologist, Biochemistry etc.) and have passed or are working towards passing the European Qualifying Examination. The successful applicant will have a proven record of accomplishment in working with patent rights in the industry or as an IPR Adviser.

You must have extensive experience within patent prosecution in the European and the US market, and patent application drafting. Furthermore, you have solid experience with patent surveillance and conducting of FTOs. You are experienced in patenting within Life Science and/or proteins and have a good understanding of the therapeutic areas of Genmab. Furthermore, it would be an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience with reviewing scientific articles and participation in oppositions and appeals.

You are proficient in English on a professional level, both written and spoken, and you master Microsoft Office.

You are a person with a strong ability to work in a heavily matrixed organization. On a personal level you are independent, a self-starter and possess good cooperation skills across the company. You have a solid attention to details, with the capability to work on multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. Furthermore, you have a comprehensive view of the projects in the team and an understanding of how they interact, and are ready to help and spare with your colleagues. You prefer working in an international environment with strong alliances outside the Danish borders.

Domicile: Bredgade, Copenhagen.

Travelling: 30-40 days/year (potentially more during an on-boarding period).
